Welcome to the Elon University Club Baseball Website
About Us
Elon Club Baseball is a competitive travel baseball program coached and managed entirely by Elon students. The team plays in Division I of the Mid-Atlantic Conference (South) of the National Club Baseball Association (NCBA). The team's purpose is to provide Elon students the opportunity to play competitive baseball at the collegiate level without the various demands of a varsity program. Since its inception by team founder Rob Kiser (Elon '06) in 2004, the team has played against teams all over North Carolina, such as Wake Forest University and the University of North Carolina, as well as teams from Virginia, Maryland, Washington D.C., and Georgia. The team schedules its own games, helps to maintain its home field, organizes its own fundraisers, and manages its budget accordingly. It supports other Elon club sports teams at their games and even hosted an invitational round robin tournament in fall 2008, the first annual Elon Fall Classic, in which Elon compiled a 3-1 record for the tournament victory.
Elon University has a strict 'no cuts' policy with regards to its club sports program that Elon Club Baseball endorses and respects. No players are ever cut from Elon Club Baseball. All players are encouraged to participate in all team practices and social functions. Unfortunately, the league in which the team plays only allows for a maximum of 32 active players for the spring season travel roster. Therefore, a 32-man roster must be comprised for the spring season, based on skill and team commitment. Players who are not on the travel roster are still encouraged to participate in all team activities and may attend spring games. The league simply prohibits those players from playing in the games themselves.
Practice times are Tuesday and Thursday at 4:30 PM, with the duration dependent on agenda. Games are played on several weekends throughout the fall and spring. Typically, a doubleheader featuring two 7-inning games is scheduled for Saturday, followed by a 9-inning game on Sunday. However, exceptions are made to accomodate weather and other circumstances. All team practices and home games are held at the recreation fields behind the Gerald L. Francis Center off Haggard Ave. in Elon, North Carolina.
